I like the clean look of TiddlyDesktop, and was wondering how one might get
the same look in Firefox. The standard settings don't allow you to turn off
much except for the bookmark bar.

I found this site:

https://gist.github.com/hallettj/568eb8842fbc178fc1e9bc914331a75e

It shows how, using userChrome in your profile, you can remove all the
borders, tabs, and menus (but still access the url via Ctl-L).

You probably don't want all your pages to look like this, so making a FF
profile is probably necessary. If you make FF profile, such as "TW", and if
you're using node or TiddlyServer, you can launch like:

firefox --no-remote -P TW --new-window http://127.0.0.1:8080
